Purchasing or Renewing a SSL Certificate

All customers who point their domain name/s to the Wrap up Web nameservers receive a free Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) Certificate for their website and all its sub domains.

However, in some cases a business or organisation will either not want to or is unable to point their domain name/s to the Wrap up Web nameservers, instead pointing the domain name/s DNS entry A Record to our IP Address.

In this case the customer has two choices.

  1. Provide an external SSL Certificate of their own that they can connect to.
  2. Purchase an externally provided SSL certificate issued by Rapid SSL from Wrap up Web

The instructions below  guide you through through Option 2.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please read the following BEFORE purchasing or renewing a SSL Certificate provided by Wrap up Web.

A newly purchased or annual renewal of externally provided SSL Certificate from Wrap up Web will need to be approved via email AFTER purchase or renewal.

Without email approval the SSL Certificate will not be valid. Whether you have purchased a certificate for the first time or paid for the renewal of the SSL Certificate, the SSL Certificate will then need to be approved via email in both cases.

SSL Certificate approval is completed via an email sent by the external issuer Rapid SSL. This email is automatically sent to admin@yourdomainname.com.

The admin@yourdomainname.com approval email is automatically generated and sent by Rapid SSL as part of the SSL Certificate verification process.

Please note: unfortunately the email send address cannot be changed to any other email address such as info@ or enquiries@ etc.

For example: if your domain is liverpoolbuilder.co.uk the approval email will automatically be sent to admin@liverpoolbuilder.co.uk

BEFORE Purchasing or annually Renewing a SSL Certificate please ensure, someone in your business or organisation is able to receive and act upon the SSL approval email when it is sent to admin@yourdomainname.com

SSL Certificate verification will fail and your website will lose its connection to the SSL certificate even after you have purchased or renewed if…

A. The approval email sent to admin@yourdomainname.com is not responded within 15 days.

B. The email address admin@yourdomainname.com does not exist.

If SSL certificate verification has failed and your SSL certificate is removed from your website as a result of the verification process failing, Wrap up Web can resend the approval email as many times as it takes until you receive it.

To purchase an SSL certificate please follow the follow the instructions below.

For demonstration purposes we will use the example domain name mydomain.com

Ensuring the newly purchased SSL Certificate is automatically renewed each year

It is advised that a SSL Certificate is purchased using a valid bank card and that this card is used again in 12 months time to ensure the SSL Certificate annual renewal is maintained.

If any SSL certificates are not renewed on an annual basis they will not work for your domain name.

To ensure annual renewal is maintained, firstly ensure you have a card Payment Method in your account then secondly head to ‘Renewals’ (under the ‘Your Account’ heading) and set the SSL Certificate to automatically renew using the selected Bank Card Payment Method you have in your account.

When will my newly purchased SSL Certificate work with my domain name?

Once approved via email the SSL Certificate should begin to work with your domain name within 2 – 12 hrs hours.
